Meet Joe Burton:

The man behind "BURTONS HISTORY SITE"

Joe is a native New Mexican who has lived, other than Alaska... and Montana... much of his life all over the beautiful state of New Mexico. As a former public school teacher, coach, and educational administrator - Joe was repeatedly recognized locally, state-wide, and nationally as an outstanding classroom teacher, coach, and elementary/secondary principal. He has published several articles related to the sports and educational field and he retired after 35 years of being in public education. Most recently, Joe was employed for 17’ years by the Alamogordo Public Schools and Imago Dei Christian Academy. You can browse Joes extensive writings on U.S. History at burtonshistorysite.com and on Facebook at ‘Burtons History.’

Joe’s hobbies include extensive reading/writing, fly-fishing, pencil/ink drawings, listening to both classical music and classic rock music... and working for his wife Jeana - as the administrator for Burton Learning Systems (a private school that specializes in extensive reading therapy and study skills for students with learning differences/dyslexia - burtonlearningsystems.com). Joe is also self-employed 'DIGITAL ARTIST' at Adobe Creek Images

Joe is a self-taught photographer who began his “rewarding addiction” in 1978. The driving force behind his photography has been his wife. Joe's art gallery is located at ’Si Senor’s’ in alamogordo, NM and Adobe Creek image gallery in cloudcroft, NM. His deep interest in pencil and ink drawings also began in 1978; specializing in portrait photography for all ages. in 2004 he began to experiment with computer digital/graphic watercoloring and painting (Photo-Art), also through the encouragement of Jeana.

It goes without saying that Joe makes off with his camera (and his fly-rod) whenever he travels - those extensive photography travels have included all of the Western ‘Trout’ States, Canada, Alaska, Asia, and Europe. It was his several visits to ‘The Louvre’ in Paris that truly changed his understanding and appreciation of art/music and their critical importance to the individual educational experiences of both public and private education.

Joe’s educational background includes New Mexico Military Institute (H.S.), New Mexico Military Inst. Junior College (A.A.), New Mexico State U. (B.A./B.S.), and Ashford University (M.A.). He also attended graduate school at Western New Mexico U. (Silver City), College of The S.W. (Hobbs), Adams State College (Colorado), and New Mexico Highlands U. (Las Vegas).
